What is a fully managed system ?
On arrival at your premises we carry- out a survey of your electrical equipment to access the risk level of the equipment and environment.
Each appliance is allocated a unique serial number.
Each Item receives a formal visual inspection and appliance test in accordance with the IEE code of practice.
On completion of inspection and testing a certificate is issued in the form of an asset list, complete with a report stating all repairs, failures and recommendations.
All test records are stored for a minimum of 10 years, copies of reports and certificates are available free of charge upon request.
After the initial inspection and test, we contact you with regards to your future testing requirements 14 days before expiry and arrange an appointment at a time to suit you, seven days a week, out of hours at no extra charge.
During retest we carry-out an audit of your electrical appliances, test only the items that require testing and any replacement or additional items and add them to your managed system. You are only charged for items tested.
Your Portable appliance records are updated annually keeping track of movement, replacement and addition of electrical equipment.
Why should I have PAT Testing carried-out?
There are a number of reasons why Electrical Installations & appliances should be tested on a regular basis with the most important ones being:
To minimize the risk of fire and injury(Each year about 1000 accidents at work involving electric shock or burns are reported to the Health and Safety Executive. About 30 of these are fatal).
To satisfy your Insurance Company (your insurance company may dismiss part or all of your claim if test records cannot be provided)
To comply with The Electricity at Work Regulations
To comply with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
To comply with all Health & Safety requirements and ISO standards
To comply with Quality Assurances
As part of your Fire Risk Assessment compliance
What are the penalties for not having PAT Testing carried-out?
Fatalities, injuries to personnel or livestock and damage to property
Successful prosecution under the Act or any health and safety statute carries a maximum penalty of a fine of £5000 and/or up to 6 months imprisonment. For breaches under the general duties of the Health Safety at Work Act 1974, penalties of up to £20000 were introduced in 1992. Offences heard on indictment in the Crown Court attract unlimited financial penalties and up to 2 years imprisonment.
